Girlmath Games: Spring 2025
Girlmath Games: Embrace Strategy, Build Resilience, and Thrive in Collaboration!
In Girlmath Games, students step into the world of strategy through engaging board and card games that sharpen both their mathematical thinking and their social-emotional skills. This class is designed to teach not only strategic gameplay but also how to navigate chance, probability, and logical reasoning in ways that translate beyond the games themselves.
Students will explore a variety of high-quality games—both classics like Rummikub and Clue and modern favorites like Settlers of Catan and Blokus—that challenge their problem-solving abilities, introduce visual models for representing logic scenarios, and encourage pattern recognition. Along the way, they’ll learn to lose gracefully, draw inspiration from others’ strategies, and transform those ideas into their own. By reflecting on outcomes and adapting their approaches, they’ll build perseverance and confidence that extend far beyond the game.
Whether working independently or collaborating in teams, students will discover how to approach challenges with a strategic mindset while fostering connections and healthy competition in a supportive environment.
This class is ideal for grades 6-8* and welcomes both seasoned gamers and those new to strategy games. The experience goes beyond fun—it equips girls with critical skills that are as valuable socially as they are mathematically.
The class runs from 4:50 to 5:50 PM. When bundled with we[HOME]work, students can arrive an hour early to complete homework or enjoy extra time practicing strategy games with friends. Healthy snacks are provided!
Spots are limited to 6 to ensure a collaborative and focused experience.
*5th graders who are currently enrolled at Girlmath are eligible to take this course.
